Over the decades, CHS has expanded to serve all 21 counties in Northern Michigan through a network of regional and satellite offices. Each year, more than 26,000 individuals receive support from CHS across a continuum of services, including behavioral health counseling, substance misuse treatment and prevention, pregnancy counseling and open adoption, senior support, and community-based social services. Our services help individuals and organizations promote wellness, resilience, and productivity. EMPLOYER ASSISTANCE PROGRAM SUPPORT FOR EMPLOYERS AND THEIR TEAMS In today’s world, employees are facing more stress and mental health challenges than ever. According to Gallup, nearly 70% of employees are struggling rather than thriving—resulting in disengagement and lost productivity that affects businesses across the board. As a Northern Michigan business leader, you have the opportunity to make a difference. Catholic Human Services offers a cost-effective Employee Assistance Program (EAP) designed to support your workforce with compassionate, confidential care. WHAT IS CHS EAP? Our EAP is a voluntary, work-based program that offers employees and their families: Free, confidential short-term counseling Assessments, referrals, and follow-ups Support for personal and work-related issues Services are delivered promptly, locally, and in private settings—often with appointments available within 48 hours. Catholic Human Services offers the Prime for Life program in Northern Michigan, helping individuals reduce risky substance use through evidence-based education and prevention strategies. Our program promotes safer choices, awareness, and long-term wellness. PRIME FOR LIFE A JUDGEMENT-FREE PATH TO AWARENESS, PREVENTION AND GROWTH Prime for Life is an evidence-based prevention and intervention program offered through Catholic Human Services, designed to help individuals understand the risks associated with alcohol and drug use. Whether you're here due to a legal requirement or seeking personal growth, Prime for Life offers a respectful, non-judgmental space for self-reflection and learning. We believe that education, not shame, inspires real change. This program helps participants explore their values, assess their choices, and take meaningful steps toward a healthier future. WHAT MAKES PRIME FOR LIFE DIFFERENT? Doable: Shifts attitudes, beliefs, and risk perceptions—bringing real behavior change within reach. Informative: Uses research-based content presented in an easy-to-understand way, with real-life application. Motivational: Offers self-assessment tools that help participants connect personal values with decision-making and understand what they may be risking. WHAT YOU'LL LEARN Our trained facilitators guide participants through three key areas: Exploring: Gain awareness of your personal risk and how it relates to your current choices. Protecting: Understand the progression of substance use and identify where you may be on that path. Reflecting: Prepare for personal change through meaningful insight and goal-setting. AGES 13-18 REGISTER HERE AGES 19 AND OLDER Promoting a Life Well Lived: Concerned with the role that alcohol or drugs play in your life? Do you want to make a change but need to learn more? Catholic Human Services offers Prime For Life® classes as a way of understanding how alcohol and drug-related problems develop, what we can do to prevent them, and why we sometimes need help. The virtual course presents carefully selected information in a non-judgmental way which provokes new thinking and provides individuals with a solid basis for making decisions about their alcohol and drug use. Individuals who may not have access to WiFi, a cell phone, tablet, or computer – may request assistance during the registration process. Once we receive your registration, we will email you a confirmation and send class materials through the U.S. mail service. Details: $120 for a 8-12 hr Substance Use Disorder intervention course that is offered virtually. Please call (231) 775-6581 to register and pre-pay for the course.

WAYS YOU CAN MAKE AN IMPACT Client Assistance Fund (CAF): Your gift directly reduces the cost of care for individuals and families who are uninsured, underinsured, or facing financial hardship. Every dollar donated to the CAF helps someone access critical services such as: Substance use disorder treatment Mental health and trauma recovery Marital and family counseling Support for unexpected pregnancies 100% of your donation goes directly toward client care. Examples of impact: $100 → Helps cover a pregnancy or individual counseling session $150 → Supports a session of family therapy $250 → Provides access to group recovery services Support Educational Programming: CHS offers a wide range of evidence-based education for youth, families, schools, and service providers—both virtually and in person. Your gift helps fund: $500 → Interactive drug prevention classes for youth $1,000 → Continuing education opportunities for service providers $5,000 → A large-scale motivational prevention event at a local school Help Expand Marriage & Family Counseling: As community needs grow, so does our vision. CHS is receiving an increasing number of referrals from clergy seeking support for struggling couples. In response, we are working to expand our marriage and family counseling program—aiming to serve at least 300 families per year. This expansion will require an estimated $400,000 investment. We are seeking donors who believe in strengthening the family unit and are ready to partner in building a sustainable, community-based solution. Once launched, we expect the expanded program to become self-sustaining within two years. Catholic Human Services provides essential client information for individuals and families across Northern Michigan. Access forms, guidelines, and resources to ensure smooth, informed participation in our counseling, recovery, and community support programs. CLIENT INFORMATION CLIENT FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE At Catholic Human Services, your well-being comes first. We believe that cost should never be a barrier to receiving care. Our registration team will work with you to find a financial solution that fits your circumstances. Whenever possible, we will bill your health insurance. For those without coverage, we offer a sliding fee scale based on income and family size. Additionally, thanks to the generosity of our donors, Client Assistance Funds may be available to help cover the cost of care. We provide both in-person and virtual services, including: Individual therapy Group therapy Family counseling Peer recovery support Care coordination Post-overdose response Referrals for Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) No one is turned away due to inability to pay. Affordable care is available through our sliding fee program.
