Catholic Human Services – Up North Prevention

Catholic Human Services (CHS) is hiring a full-time Prevention Specialist for Grand Traverse County. This community- and youth-focused role supports substance misuse prevention through education, outreach, and collaboration with local partners.

Primary Focus

Community and youth-based prevention work, including education, outreach, and support for schools and community partners.

Key Responsibilities

Assist in the development of community and data-driven prevention plans with services delivered accordingly.
Provide information regarding substance use disorders in a variety of settings (speaking engagements, health fairs, educational settings, and other community-based settings).
Implement substance misuse educational series to individuals, small groups, and/or classrooms to universal, selective, and indicated audiences.
Provide individual prevention assessments, referrals to other programs, and student assistance services.
Participate in program-specific, agency-wide staff, or purchaser-required meetings.
Work collaboratively with other staff to compile and provide information for other prevention program pillar leads.
Provide services outside of the regular agency workday including evenings and weekends.
Other duties as assigned.

Key Skills & Qualities

Bachelor's degree preferred; candidates with substantial experience or currently obtaining a degree will be considered.
Experience desired in community organizing, coalition development, substance use disorder prevention and/or treatment, high-risk youth populations, court systems, schools, and law enforcement.
Self-motivated; willing to travel; able to work collaboratively with a regional substance use disorder prevention team.

Schedule & Travel

This position may require evening and weekend hours. Travel within the region is expected for community engagement and programming.
