Foster Grandparent Program

Foster Grandparent volunteers are 55 or older and serve as role models, mentors, and friends to children in need. They volunteer at local organizations including faith-based locations, Head Start centers, schools, and other youth facilities.  Foster Grandparents serve an average of 20 hours per week to provide guidance to children who need a helping hand.

To qualify, volunteers must be income eligible (200% poverty level or less). They earn a tax-free hourly stipend, and receive transportation reimbursement and other benefits. Prior to working with assigned youth, volunteers must complete 40 hours of pre-service orientation/training, receive a physical, and undergo background checks. Continuous training is provided on a monthly basis.
